What will be on the FINAL?

translation - 40%
The final exam will consist of three passages to translate from Greek to English. Two passages will be taken from the readings we have covered in Xenophon, 1.1.1-1.2.15. One will be taken from a section of Xenophon you have not seen.
Prose Composition - 25%
There will be eight prose composition sentences. Six will be from your homework and based on the two seen translation passages you will have to translate from 1.1.1-1.2.11. Two will be based on the unseen passage.
SYNTAX ANALYSIS AND GRAMMAR IDENTIFICATION - 10%
In the passages you will translate a total of 10 words will be underlined for you to identify and explain the syntax. The points of syntax will be taken directly from the notes in the back of your book. So you should pay close attention to them as you prepare and use the grammar book.
Syntax Analysis - 25%
- You will be given 5 sentences to identify the type of condition (not to translate) and to underline the key elements. E.g. εἰ παρῆν ὁ Κῦρος, μάχεσθαι ἡμῖν ἂν παρεκελεῦετο.
- You will be given 5 sentences to transform from direct to indirect discourse.
- You will be given 5 sentence to identify the kind of subordinate clause, underline the key elements and give the negative (οὐ or μή).
